Winter Day

The sun rises
Soft – gentle
Like watercolors painting the sky
There is splendor outside my window
Calling for a new day
From a sleeping world, once cloaked in darkness

A cold winter air tickles my nose
And my body awakens with a shiver
Alive – breathing with the wind
As it rustles the trees
And beckons me forward

Mother nature stirs from her slumber
Majestic and powerful
She covers the grey world
Tucking it in beneath a soft white blanket
That glitters and glistens
In the light of her sunbeams

“Winter” she calls
Peaceful yet exuberant
A season so cold
Made warm by her gaze
As the earth renews
And so do we
