The sun rises Soft – gentle Like watercolors painting the sky There is splendor outside my window Calling for a new day From a sleeping world, once cloaked in darkness A cold winter air tickles my nose And my body awakens with a shiver Alive – breathing with the wind As it rustles the trees And beckons me forward Mother nature stirs from her slumber Majestic and powerful She covers the grey world Tucking it in beneath a soft white blanket That glitters and glistens In the light of her sunbeams “Winter” she calls Peaceful yet exuberant A season so cold Made warm by her gaze As the earth renews And so do we
